Floor inspections and repairs in the Midlands usually get called in after somebody has already spent money. That’s the pattern. A floor blisters, a contractor recoats it, and eight months later the same patches lift in the same places — because nobody established why it failed the first time. Blistering, peeling and cracking are symptoms, and several completely different causes produce identical-looking damage. Rising damp, poor preparation, contamination in the slab, thermal movement and structural settlement all present as a floor coming apart. The remedy for each is different, and applying the wrong one is a guaranteed way to pay twice.
So we start with diagnosis. Ron takes hygrometer readings, does adhesion pull tests, taps for hollow areas and reads the crack pattern against the building’s layout before he recommends anything at all. Sometimes the answer costs very little. Occasionally it means telling you a structural engineer is the right call and we’re not. Either way you get the truth in writing, which is what lets you spend once. Different causes, similar-looking damage. Here’s how they separate.
An honest floor survey is a technical exercise, not a walk-round with a clipboard.
You get the findings in writing, with photographs and a clear recommendation. If the honest answer is that your floor needs less than you feared, that’s what the report will say.
Once the diagnosis is clear, the repair follows logically.
Ron attends site, walks the floor with you and hears the history. When was it laid? Who laid it? What changed before the problems started? That background often points straight at the cause.
Testing follows, focused on the areas showing damage and on control areas that are still sound. Comparing the two is frequently what identifies the variable.
You receive findings, photographs, test results and a clear explanation of what caused the failure. Options are presented with honest costs against each, including the option of doing nothing where that’s defensible.
Where the issue is structural rather than a flooring matter, we say so and recommend an engineer. We’d rather lose the job than take money for work that won’t fix your problem.
Repairs are scoped precisely, with a written itemised quote. Preparation, repairs, materials and reinstatement appear as separate lines.
We then agree phasing before starting. Night shifts, weekends and area-by-area working are routine, so your operation keeps running.
Failed material comes out first. Debonded coating is stripped, contaminated concrete is removed, and the surrounding area is prepared through floor grinding or dust free shot blasting. Everything runs through H-class extraction.
Heavily soiled areas get pressure washing beforehand, since grinding through contamination just drives it deeper.
Structural work comes first — stitching, arris rebuilding, pothole reinstatement. Surface work follows once the substrate is sound.
Repairs are ground flush so nothing catches a wheel, then blended into the existing floor as closely as the original system allows.
Coated areas are made good into the existing finish, or recoated across a defined area where blending would look poor. Markings are reinstated using safety line marking where traffic routes are affected.

Joint damage, aisle wear and failed coatings across large areas. Scope definition matters enormously here, since a percentage-based repair can save an enormous sum against relaying.

Failures that create audit findings — cracked coving, blown joints, hairline cracking. Repairs feed directly into our hygiene floor coating systems.
Oil bleed-through, pit edge damage and coating failure around lifts. Usually resolved with oil resistant flooring once contamination depth is established.
Spalling, exposed reinforcement and failed deck coatings. These inspections are the most important on this list, because the damage is structural. Repairs run through car park flooring.
Trip hazards, worn finishes and localised damage, repaired out of hours so the building stays open.
Chemical attack from effluent and fertiliser, plus crack damage under machinery loading. Often repairable at far less cost than owners expect.

Inspection generally leads somewhere. Live cracks are dealt with through floor stitching, while broken surfaces and potholes go through concrete floor repairs. Where the whole system has failed, we strip it via our floor coating removal service and rebuild with industrial floor painting or a heavier resin build. Slabs that are simply dusting often need nothing more than dust proofing or concrete sealing, which is a far cheaper outcome. Where chemical attack is the cause, chemical resistant flooring is specified against your actual exposure to stop it recurring.
The most expensive thing you can do with a failing floor is guess. Recoat a damp slab and it blisters again. Fill a live crack and it opens again. Coat over contamination and it bleeds through again. Each attempt costs the full price of the work, plus the disruption, plus the preparation to remove whatever went down last time — and the underlying cause is still sitting there, entirely untouched, waiting to do it again.
